{ No Comment }

There are loads of Halloween themed online slots games; in fact the 'fear factor' is one of the most widely explored themes in the slots game genre. While we don't have to wait for Halloween to play vampire themed online slots, they are certainly very appropriate to get us into the spirit of things. Net Entertainment for example gives us 'Bitten' which is a vampire themed game, while Microgaming offers us 'Blood Suckers' on exactly the same theme – actually these two games almost twin one-another.

While we are speaking of twins; there is an online slots based on some of the evilest twins of them all. You guessed right, it is called 'Twins Of Evil' and is a terror-ific slot based on the 18th Century European vampire theme which is a fang-tastic amount of fun. Play it if you dare, it could let you win big time with a top prize of £40,000, but only if it doesn't scare the pants off you first. The theme of this game comes from the classic Hammer House of Horror, 1971 movie, and it brings the blood-thirsty Maria and Frieda back to chilling life. Not that they ever were dead – vampires are after all - the proverbial 'undead'.

What about Jack Hammer? While this is not a typically Halloween themed game, in this online slots incarnation, he battles the Evil Dr. Wuten. This is a new online slot and we won quite a bit on this game, on its maiden voyage for us. It is jam-packed with free spins and our little test run revealed 10 free spins on the first £12.50 spin, which went on, and on, and on…winning us 13500 coins. Don't make the same mistake we made – make sure you play for real money. This is a fascinating online slot which features fifteen individual reels.

The latest from Microgaming is a magical online slot – it has been specifically released for Halloween and features a witch as the pivotal character. The name of the game is 'Lucky Witch' what else could it be? It is compellingly entertaining, graphically rich and features the stereotypical sexy, big-breasted, red-headed witch. She is accompanied by three familiars, a lizard, black cat and an owl, which (excuse the pun) will win you much more money than the other traditional trappings. Find cauldrons, scroll, crystals, magic potions and all the rest. There are four brilliant bonus rounds and a maximum of 45 000 coins up for grabs in these.

For more Halloween themed slots why not try some old favourites such as the Osbournes or Adams Family – both of these families are scary! There is Blade, that famous Marvel Comic Vampire-hybrid character, or HellBoy – he is even freakier. Other appropriate titles include 'Scary Rich 2' which is really scary, 'Haloweenies' which is cute, 'Trick or Treat, Warlocks Spell, Witches Wealth and Goblins Gold. There is something for everyone, with really good prizes on offer, so, give them a spin and you never know, your luck might be in and you win on the number 13, which is only unlucky for some. You would be a ghoul not to try!

Key to winning in Poker – calculating pot odds

{ No Comment }

Poker is a game involving betting on the cards. However, the betting in which the players in the game indulge is not just based on some blind faith or random guess of amount driven by greed to win the game, but does need some basic calculations.

The most essential thing that is required for a person to have a better possibility of winning by calling the correct bets is the ability to calculate the odds of winning the pot.

In simple terms, the lack of knowledge about the calculating the odds or probability of winning a pot with a bet is the one that leads to losses in the game of poker. They miscalculate either the odds or end up calling more than the odds warrant, thus putting the money you invested in the pot to risk. It is immaterial whether you play poker game in a casino or in the Internet in the form of online poker, you should be aware of the basic or elementary aspects of calculating pot odds before betting.

If one wants to play the game of poker, then it is very essential and an elementary aspect of the game that he or she should learn is to calculate the odds or probability of getting a desired card and or in winning the pot.

What is an odd?

Odd is nothing but the possibility or probability of an event happening in the given circumstances. In the game of poker, odd or the probability refers to the probability or possibility of getting the required card among the possible alternatives.

In the game of poker, the total value of the prize amount or the total amount that has been put up by the players through betting is called as the pot. Because the amount contributed by the players in the form of betting is ultimately paid to one player, he gets the jackpot amount. This jackpot is called as the pot amount or simply as pot in poker gaming parlance.

How to calculate the odds in the pot?

This is not a big task and all one needs to do is to have a basic understanding of the cards and the law of averages.

It would be better if I tried to explain how one should calculate the odds before indulging in betting the pot through one of the examples that could make it easy for you to understand the logic behind the calculation of the odds.

Let us assume that you are playing a Texas Hold’em poker game.

You have two private cards in one suit.

Of the three cards placed face-up in the flop, one is of the same suit and you find, for you surprise, that in the turn, you get a card in the same suit.

Now at the end of the turn, you find yourself having four cards of the same suit and you need only one card in the next stage of betting – the river stage – so that you go for a flush if you can get the one card in the same suit.

What is the probability that you will get one card in the same suit that will help you show a flush?

Total number of cards in the pack : 52

Cards in your hand and in the table : 06

Balance cards : 46

Total number of cards in a suit : 13

Cards of the same suit in your hand : 04

Balance cards of same suit not known : 09

Thus, of the total 46 cards, 9 cards are of the same suit and the balance 37 cards are of different suits.

In other words, the probability that the card is of the same suit can be assessed by dividing 37 with 9, or in other words, 4.1.

If you draw a card from the 46 cards, one in out of the four cards will be of a same suit that you are looking for.

The calculation of the odds for your bet should be equivalent to about 25% of the total pot size. If the bet is equivalent to 25% or less of the total pot size, then it might turn out to be profitable to you. Anything more than 25% might not be feasible and you may end up losing the pot/

By effectively calculating the odds, what you can achieve is that you can minimize the amount of losses while giving yourself a chance to win the pot – a jackpot in its true sense.

Thus, as a poker player, one should be aware of this elementary aspect of calculating the odds before deciding on the betting.
